Running with Heart: Local Matters x The Nike Melbourne Marathon Festival ❤️

Giving our guests a Local Matters token and letting them vote for the community group closest to their hearts has become an iconic restaurant ritual, shares our VIC Local Matters Legend, Mya.

“Local Matters is such a unique and special part of Grill’d. It makes me feel so proud to be part of a brand that genuinely cares about people and community. It’s more than just a program, it’s an opportunity to make a real difference and add value to other people’s lives.”

This month, as part of our partnership with the Nike Melbourne Marathon Festival, our VIC restaurants have been supporting three of the festival’s incredible community group partners on their Local Matters jars. The Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF), Beyond Blue, and Dylan Alcott Foundation shared the impact of being part of our Local Matters program with our team.

“Being part of Grill’d’s Local Matters program in Victoria this September as part of the Nike Melbourne Marathon, means more than just raising vital funds – it’s an opportunity to spark conversations with the community about the importance of cancer research. Every token placed in our jar helps accelerate research that can save lives, and we’re grateful to Grill’d and their customers for backing that mission,” shares ACRF Community Fundraising Manager, Seb Bown.

Beyond Blue’s Community Fundraising Lead, Carly Smith, says that being part of our Local Matters program is a powerful opportunity to spark conversations about mental health every day.

“At a time when so many Australians are facing complex life stressors, initiatives like Local Matters help foster compassion, connection, and support in the community. The contributions raised through this program directly support Beyond Blue’s free 24/7 Support Service, which receives up to 800 contacts every day from people across the country.

“Together, we’re helping individuals feel seen, heard, and empowered to reach out for the support they need — whenever they need it”.

For the Dylan Alcott Foundation (DAF), it’s all about the power of creating a more inclusive community.

“The DAF is pumped to be part of the Grill’d Local Matters Program, raising awareness across Victoria to break down barriers for young people with disability to achieve their dreams,” says Marketing, Communications & Grants Lead, Stefanie Symes.

“Together we can shift perceptions and create a more inclusive society, one life-changing opportunity at a time”.
