Take 5 with our Assistant Restaurant Manager, Kirrah 🫶
Kirrah joined our team because all her mates were working at Grill’d. Seven years later, she moved from Queensland to Melbourne to open our first Victorian drive-thru restaurant, a moment she says tops her highlights list.
“I worked at Grill’d through uni because all of my friends were there and we had so much fun. I then graduated and started teaching, but decided I liked working at Grill’d more, so I became an Assistant Restaurant Manager.
“The biggest highlight of my career is moving to Melbourne with my friend Sam, we both came from QLD as Managers to open Grill’d’s first VIC drive-thru together. It’s something that felt crazy at the time, because we’ve never done it before, but it was fun to do it together.
Kirrah’s primary superpower just happens to be the secret ingredient to creating the ultimate drive-thru experience for our guests.
“You need to have so much more energy on drive-thru, because over the speaker, you can’t see anyone’s faces, so you really have to use your voice. You also get to make all the food yourself, and personally interact with our guests when they come through.
As we approach the restaurant’s one year anniversary, Kirrah says the three key changes from day one to now are the team’s increased competency and seamless flow, the community connection they’ve cultivated with guests, and… the headsets.
“There are so many buttons on the headsets, which took a while to get used too, but now our team are just so comfy with them.
To feel good in the moment and beyond, Kirrah continues to get the same burger she’s had for the past six years.
“I get the Beyond Burger, because I’m vegan, and I have satay sauce, vegan mayo, and mustard. Then I add onion rings and a Mango Pash Chill’d Sip on the side”.
