Running with heart: Local Matters x genU
At Grill’d, we love giving back – it’s our way of spreading the local love in the communities we call home.
For our WA & NT Local Matters Legend, Jen, giving our guests a Local Matters token and letting them vote for the community group closest to their hearts is one of her favourite rituals.
“Being able to explain to our guests, friends, and family what groups we have around us, how they are impacting our community, and spreading the education on the services available from all of these kind people is my favourite part of our Local Matters program.
“We all go through so many journeys in our life, and you never know who will need these services one day.”
As a proud partner of this year’s Chevron City to Surf Perth, this month we’ve teamed up with genU to feature three of their amazing programs across our WA Local Matters jars.
“Being part of the Local Matters program means so much to us at genU. Every token placed in one of our jars represents a person choosing to stand behind inclusion, opportunities, and empowerment for people living with disability,” shares genU Chief Marketing & Communications Officer, Michael van Oudtshoorn.
“For our team, it’s a reminder that the work we do everyday matters and that the community sees value in it. For the people we support, it’s encouragement – it tells them that they are recognised, celebrated, and backed by their local community.
“Local Matters has given us a platform to share our story more widely, to raise awareness of the importance of improving lives by building inclusive communities, and to invite people to be part of something bigger. It helps to meaningfully demonstrate that even small, everyday actions – like casting a vote – can make an impactful difference”.

We’re in the business of good burgers. Sounds simple, right? But it takes a lot of good people to get the job done.
