City Support Take 5 with our VIC Growth Coach, Adam 🍔🫶

Adam’s journey with Grill’d first started back in 2016. After returning five and a half months ago to play a key leadership role in our VIC Ops Team, he’s also leading the national operations of our City Support program.

Off the back of our July City Support dinners, which we hosted together with St Vincent de Paul Society Australia and The Salvation Army Australia, Adam took 5 with our team to share why City Support is so close to his heart.

“City Support means so much to me because it’s an opportunity to give back. It’s a wholesome, energetic event, and for me, it also brings a lot of perspective on a personal level.

Describing City Support as heartwarming, rewarding, and energic, Adam’s favourite moments of the night are at the start and end of service.

“There’s three things I love most about City Support. The first is seeing the transition of our first-time volunteers, who arrive feeling nervous and leave feeling energised. The second is our pre-shift huddle, where we raise the energy and connect as a team before service begins, and the third is the thanks we receive at the end of the night from our guests. Whether it’s hugs, handshakes, or high fives, you can see that you’re making a measurable impact in their lives.

Running since 2022, City Support has become our team’s favourite shift of the month. When reflecting on why the connection runs deep, Adam says it comes down to two key elements.

“The number one reason why our team loves being part of City Support is because we’re serving the best meal our guests will have all month, and being part of this is super special. The second is because it’s super fun, our team gets to hang out with superstars from across the country.

When it comes to Adam’s vision for City Support, it’s as humble and inspiring as he is.

“My vision for City Support is to keep the spirit alive. Like Local Matters, it’s the heart and soul of our business, and a key reason why many people join us”.
